It’s no use building a massive shop with great products in the middle of the desert and not telling anyone about it.

In today’s world, no website marketing means no visitors which in turn leads to very low (if any) sales.

The website browsers and Google searchers out there want to know 1 thing and 1 thing only: “How will this benefit me?” If you can show them, through your online marketing efforts and strategies what it is that they need, they’ll gladly come back for more.

In this series of posts, I’ll be giving you tips on how to improve your website SEO & get more visitors from Google.

So let’s get you what you want and share the first tip to help you rank your website by improving your SEO.

First things first

Let’s take it from the start, shall we?

The first thing that any website browser will see after entering their search term and clicking ‘search’ is all the various options that Google spits out.

Let’s assume you take all my advice and fall amongst the top 3 options for that specific search term… Great. The visitor clicks on your website link and your site opens up and starts loading…

Loading speed: 1 Second = Awesome

Loading speed: 2 Seconds = Very Good

Loading speed: 3 Seconds = Good

Loading speed: 4 Seconds = WTF? Something is wrong! I’m going back to the search results (and btw I’ve had a ‘bad’ experience so I’m not returning to this site again or recommending it to anyone…)

Loading speed: 5 Seconds = You kidding me?

So that’s it – You have 3 seconds in which your site should load and open up otherwise you stand a chance of losing anything from 40% of your website visitors according to Quicksprout. Shocked?

Well according to the stats 80% of the visitors who had a ‘this-site-is-too- slow’ experience will NEVER return.

And it’s not just your visitors that will punish you

Google will rank you lower the slower your site is. They love giving their visitors a good experience. So in short just remember this slow speed = low ranking.

Google’s algorithm recognizes your website’s popularity and awards you accordingly by lifting you higher on their search rankings until you’re so good that you’re on top.

It is important to make sure that your website’s page speed and server response times are optimal.

Keep what you get

If you can keep the traffic that you get to your site and your visitors stay on your website pages for more than the mentioned times above your chances are much bigger of getting ranked higher (if you have a good SEO strategy in place that is).

From this it follows that Google will recognize that people like coming to your site and award you with a higher position over time.

Improve your website SEO by improving your page speed

To see/ test this you can use the following tools. I usually make use of 2 or 3 to get a better idea and iron out every possible issue there might be that can influence my speed.
